Hello,

My name is Larry Tracy. If you answered those questions with a resounding “yes,” my book, The Shortcut to Persuasive Presentations , may be just what you need. Busy people do not have the time to read lengthy books on how to improve their public speaking skills. They require a “shortcut,” and that's what you'll get in this book.

shortcutbookcoverHow will you benefit from this Book?

  • You will gain an immediate "edge" over your colleagues and competitors.
  • You will be able to present persuasively in "pressure-cooker" situations.
  • You will be able to speak confidently in front of difficult and demanding audiences

What makes this book different?

Although most books on presentation skills impart valid information, they tend to get bogged down in abstract theory and lengthy checklists, which are not "ready-to-use".

In contrast, this book provides a hands-on, easy-to-internalize system that will make you a better presenter. You will learn proven techniques for planning your presentation logically, practicing realistically , and presenting persuasively.

The experience I bring to the field of presentations coaching

quotesI'm a retired Army colonel, and have delivered well over 2000 presentations. I formerly headed the Pentagon's top briefing team, responsible for daily intelligence presentations to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Secretary of Defense.

The State Department subsequently asked the Army to assign me to the Department for the specific purpose of debating controversial foreign policy issues throughout the country, primarily to audiences more inclined to jeer than cheer.

After retiring from the Army, I used these experiences to develop a presentation skills coaching program. Thousands of business executives, lawyers, sales people, government officials and diplomats have become more effective and persuasive speakers as a result of this coaching.

This book is a distillation of the coaching I conduct in these executive workshops. It is not abstract, academic theory; it is a proven system that works in the “real world.” This is the type of book I wish I had access to when I was facing those demanding audiences—an easy-to-learn–and-internalize system that can be applied to virtually any speaking situation.

Try Before You Buy

You probably have a healthy skepticism about any claims made on the Internet. So do I. I've been burned numerous times by purchasing books that promised much, but delivered little. The sales letters touting these books had lists of tantalizing points suggesting I could not afford to pass up this once in a lifetime opportunity. Sound familiar?

I'd rather you make the decision about buying this book without any “hype” from me. To see a full description of the book and judge for yourself how it can help you, Click Here. You may also wish to view the Table of Contents. Perhaps the best way for you to decide if you want to buy this book is to read Chapter Four, Six Steps to Persuasion. This chapter will provide you proven advice on how to make persuasive presentations, as well as being a road map to the rest of the book.

Using Fear of Speaking to Become a Better Presenter

Surveys for the past thirty years have demonstrated that “fear of public speaking” ranks at or near the top of phobias in the United States , ahead of even dying. Jerry Seinfeld referred to this irony in the opening of one of his television programs by saying "This means people would rather be in the coffin than be required to deliver the eulogy.”

I differ from many coaches in my field who believe one must conquer the fear of speaking in order to become a more effective presenter. In fact, I believe it is an advantage to have the same “pre-game jitters” athletes have. I know I certainly had this apprehension in many of the important, pressure-packed presentations I have had to deliver in my career.

Among the thousands of executives, sales professionals, lawyers, engineers and diplomats I have coached over the years, a high percentage experienced apprehension at speaking to a group. Generally, this worry stemmed from the lack of a system to “package” the knowledge these experts had in their respective fields into a coherent oral message aimed at solving the problems of their various audience, clients, etc.

When these people implemented my S3P3 System—the essence of my workshop and now this book—they converted nervousness to positive energy, speaking now with enthusiasm and passion on their subject. “Fear of the unknown” was reduced, self-confidence increased.
